On March 4, 2019, Big Hit Entertainment debuted their newest boy group, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, also known as TXT. The group currently has five members: Huening Kai, Soobin, Beomgyu, Yeonjun, and Taehyun. Known for their catchy songs, vibrant visuals, and themes exploring the struggles of being a youth, TXT has become a very prominent group in the K-Pop genre.
After the success of their previous EP, “Minisode 3: Tomorrow,” K-Pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER released their newest EP, “The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY” on November 4th, 2024. The extended play features six new tracks for TXT fans to fall in love with. With only a short run time of 14 minutes and 9 seconds, TXT creates a fun, bubbly album with great lyrics, incredible vocals, and an amazing overall vibe. There was only one song that I’d possibly skip, but overall I would listen to this album over like a trillion times. Let’s get into the song reviews:
Heaven
Rating: ★★★★½
This song is about the powerful, almost magical feeling of love and connection that makes everything seem wonderful. The song illustrates how the presence and intimacy of a loved one offer warmth and joy, with the lyrics highlighting the transformative power of love. In other ways, the person being sung to becomes “heaven” itself—a source of comfort, warmth, and fulfillment. After the first listen, I felt like I was transported right back to summer, an ice cold drink in my hand and the sun in my eyes. This song has so many summer vibes and is just such a great way to open the album. The best way I can describe it is almost similar to a song from the Jonas Brothers. It’s such a fun pop song and definitely made it into my K-Pop playlist.
Over The Moon:
Rating: ★★★★★
This song explores a profound and transformative love that feels eternal and limitless, akin to a “land of forever.” The lyrics convey how being with this person brings warmth, stability, and joy, dissolving feelings of loneliness and fear. They view each other as a safe haven, a space where they can dream together and promise to support one another. With cosmic imagery—such as soaring over the moon and stars—it encapsulates the uplifting and liberating feeling they experience together, prepared to face life’s adventures side by side and create lasting memories. Serving as the title track, this song also has such an amazing vibe to it!
Danger:
Rating: ★★★★
This song looks into a deep desire that is both thrilling and dangerous, similar to taking a risk. The narrator is completely attracted by someone, giving to their emotions and discarding any sense of caution. Through vivid imagery of flames, racing, and obsession, the song depicts the idea of being drawn into a force that, despite its wild and chaotic nature, is both powerful and enticing. The repeated use of the word “danger” also emphasizes the excitement and risk. This song is pretty good, I didn’t care much for the chorus, but I loved the verses! Overall, still a great song and definitely has been added to my playlist.
Resist (Not Gunna Run Away):
Rating: ★★★½
This song expresses an intense commitment to someone significant in the narrator’s life. The lyrics show a deep affection that makes life without this person dull and lacking. Even when outside circumstances threaten to separate them, the narrator is passionate about their wish to stay together, willing to go through anything to be by their side. With lines like “I can’t exist without you” and “I’ll endure anything for you,” the song emphasizes a strong emotional connection, with each other serving as a lifeline, bringing purpose and strength in the face of adversity. Although I like this song, it is the weakest song out of the bunch and definitely will not be replayed much outside of this listen.
Forty One Winks:
Rating: ★★★★★
This song looks at a peaceful, reassuring connection between two people, similar to a secret language that only they understand. The phrase “forty-one winks” refers to silent gestures that resemble a welcoming Morse code. In the middle of the city’s pace and bustle, these exchanged glances bring peace, filling whatever gap that may have existed. Each look expresses empathy and care, building a strong link that goes beyond the need for words. From my first listen, I have to be honest, I was busting a move. The beat is so good, the vocals are incredible, and I loved every second. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is on the fence of listening to TXT.
Higher Than Heaven:
Rating: ★★★★½
This song explores a profound and uplifting bond between two individuals, where love and support make anything seem achievable. The lyrics express the feeling of being elevated “higher than heaven” together, both in spirit and in a metaphorical sense. The narrator draws strength from the other person’s presence and guidance, fostering a sense of eternity and limitless potential. The song celebrates the joy of navigating life side by side, with starlight symbolizing guidance and protection. It portrays a journey filled with love and dreams, where the future shines bright and every moment is cherished. This song has such a fun little beat, cute lyrics, and such perfect vocals. This song is the perfect way to close the album, and I also loved every second of this song.
Concluding Remarks
Overall, I think that this extended play is extremely good, and TXT once again produced an amazing set of songs. It makes sense why so many people love this group, it really shows in the quality and love that they put into each song.
