What is All-SCC?
All-SCC is for high school sports teams when certain players are dedicated to an All Conference team in the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC). There are 23 high school teams that compete in the Southern Connecticut Conference. Some high schools in this conference include: East Haven, Hamden, Cheshire, Amity Regional, West Haven, Sheehan, Shelton, Daniel Hand, Lyman Hall High School and more.
Selection Process:
You might ask how athletes from your school make the All-SCC teams, (first or second team). The answer to this is the coaches from the team nominate the best players from their team at the end of their season. After this all the coaches in the conference for that sport have a meeting together to say who they nominated from their team. Then they get into groups of three and vote on who should make first team or second team in the conference.
Sports:
Sports that are in the All-SCC conference are fall, winter, and spring sports. Some specific sports are Cross Country (Boys and Girls), Volleyball, Football, Basketball (Boys and Girls), Cheerleading, Ice Hockey (Boys and Girls), Baseball, Softball, and Tennis (Boys and Girls).
First and Second Team:
The decision comes down to the coaches’ vote. The first team is for athletes who are top-tier within the whole conference. This usually consists of players who earn the most votes from head coaches, players who had the best statistics, or where the players placed in tournaments. The second team is the next top-tier athletes that stand out but aren’t necessarily known throughout the conference. These players possess an exceptional ability for their sport.
