The EHHS softball team finished the 2026 season with a 6-12 record. While the team faced challenges throughout the year, players say the season was full of memorable moments and valuable experiences that will help them improve in the future.

Junior player Stella Frat said the team had its ups and downs but believes there is room for improvement. “I think the season was okay. We definitely could’ve played better,” Stella said. Her favorite memory was a triple play on Senior Night when Eve was pitching; a rare and exciting moment that energized the team. Peyton Buzzanco reflected on the friendships and teamwork that developed throughout the season. “I enjoyed the season playing with the new freshmen and building stronger bonds,” she said. However, she also felt the team could have done better defensively.” Peyton’s favorite moment came during an intense game against West Haven when East Haven battled into extra innings and earned a hard-fought victory.
Delaney Shepard shared a similar view of the season. “I think we did okay. It just took us a while to get into our groove, but we definitely could’ve done better,” she said. Like Peyton, her favorite moment was defeating West Haven in extra innings. Looking forward, Delaney is especially excited for the team’s trip to Florida next season. As the team begins preparing for next year, players are focused on improving both individually and as a team. Stella hopes the team can qualify for both the SCC and state tournaments, while Peyton is looking forward to new talent joining the team and having softball activities continue throughout the season.
Even though the Yellowjackets did not achieve all of their goals that they set for themselves for this season, the players remained optimistic and continued improving their skills over the season. With strong team chemistry, returning players with experience, and more opportunities ahead, East Haven softball is already looking forward toward a great 2027 season.
