How to Deal with Academic Pressure in High School

According to senior research scientist at NYU college of nursing, “there is growing awareness that many subgroups of youth experience high levels of chronic stress, to the extent that it impedes their abilities to succeed academically, compromises their mental health functioning, and fosters risk behavior.”  This is concerning because chronic stress can lead to mental health problems and disengagement in academics and other positive activities.  

 

 

Four Strategies for Dealing With Academic Pressure
  • Time management- being able to stay organized and prioritize school work.
  • Practicing self care and seeking support- to avoid overwhelming feelings.
  • Setting realistic goals- and celebrating successes and accomplishments
  • Maintaining a positive mindset- an focusing on goals and the future.
