The Hagaman Memorial Library will be hosting a special after-hours Teen Coffee House and Open Mic on Friday, February 2nd, 2024. Doors will open at 5:00 PM and the event will run through 8:00 PM.

Local teens are invited to showcase their talents on stage in a welcoming and supportive environment, or simply watch and cheer on their peers. Previous coffee houses have seen teens express themselves through skits, songs, poetry, comedy and more. Free refreshments will also be served throughout the night.

“The Coffee House is always a frequently requested and much anticipated event among our teenage patrons,” says Emily Kalotai, the young adult and teen services librarian. “It is always exciting to see just what the young people of East Haven are capable of, and I’m so glad that we are able to provide a welcoming space for them.”

The Teen Coffee House is made possible through a sponsorship from the East Haven Youth Service Bureau.

Admission to the Teen Coffee House and Open Mic is free and open only to those ages 12 to 18. There is no need to register to attend, but those wishing to perform should contact the library at 203-468-3890, or sign-up at the library in the Teen Reading Room. Teens may also sign-up to perform during the event itself as space allows.

Community Service hours will be offered to any volunteers wishing to help with set-up before and clean-up following the event. Those interested in volunteering, or anyone with further questions regarding the event, should contact the teen librarian directly, at [email protected].
