Some people believe that ChatGPT is extremely helpful, while others consider it a potential problem. A teacher, a college student, and several high school students shared their thoughts about it.
On the helpful side, many students say ChatGPT makes school work easier and faster. Mathias Ortega Guaman, a senior EHHS work better. Kelsey Hinckley, another senior EHHS student, said it gives quick answers and saves time. She likes using it for essays and hard school topics. Jaydin Torres, another senior EHHS student, said ChatGPT is good because it “answers questions and explains things easily.” Zahinullah Khan, a sophomore college student, said he uses it “to get ideas and plan work.” Many students agree that ChatGPT is a great tool for learning and coming up with ideas.
On the harmful side, some people worry that ChatGPT makes students lazy or stops them from thinking for themselves. Mrs. Lauren Myers, an English teacher at EHHS, said, “You only learn when you do the work yourself.” She believes ChatGPT can help fix writing mistakes, but shouldn’t do all the work for students. Kelsey Hinckley also said it “can make people forget how to think on their own.” Jaydin Torres mentioned that it’s “not always right,” and Zahinullah Khan said some students rely on it too much and have trouble writing without it.
Overall, most people can agree that ChatGPT can be both good and bad. It can help you learn and save time, but it can also make you forget how to think or write by yourself. The best way to use ChatGPT is to let it help you, not do all the work for you.
