Summer Fashion Trend Predictions 2024

Summer+Fashion+Trend+Predictions+2024

With the Summer season coming soon, I thought it would be fun to give my summer fashion trends prediction! Starting off with:

70s Fashion

Fashion trends come and go, and usually cycle every 10-20 years. We have seen this with the rise of Y2K fashion–people love fashion that is far enough to be new and cool but not too in the past to be considered old or stuffy. 90s and 80s fashion have spun their rounds in the past few years, and I think that 70s fashion is going to have its turn this summer! Specifically flared pants, bell bottoms, midi skirts, fitted blouses, and funky shoes!

Balletcore

Balletcore, which is athletic wear that is commonly worn by ballerina dancers at practice or that give off a dainty, feminine vibe, has become very popular this year. I think that it will only increase in popularity this summer and I expect to see a lot of soft fabrics and pastel color palettes, dresses with puffed sleeves and big skirts, ballet flats, tight-fitting corset tops, ribbons, and other traditionally feminine hair accessories.

J-Fashion

J-fashion, or Japanese fashion, has become really popular in the Western world in the 2010s. Elements of styles such as Gyaru, Himekaji, Dolly kei, and classic Lolita have been trending on TikTok this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more of their influence in the summer.

2010s High-rise

Gen-Z is growing up, and now our childhoods are becoming nostalgic and the fashion trends from that time are coming back in style. Among these trends, I think low rise jeans will be swapped out for high rise, which I’m personally not looking forward to (sorry, low rise is better).

Baggy jean shorts

Shorts always come back into rotation during the summer of course, but I think this year we’ll see more people start to wear jorts.

Florals

With the rise of coquette, feminine, romantic patterns like florals have been coming back. Summer would be the perfect time to rock some floral chic.

Swimsuit dresses & Halter tops

Like I have stated before, wearing hyper-feminine styles is a big trend right now and it would make sense that we would transition from bikinis and swimsuits to cute, frilly swimsuit dresses and flowy halter tops.

These are just a few of my fun fashion predictions. Remember, you are allowed to wear whatever you want and don’t let trends dictate what you can or can’t wear!
