Dom has been playing basketball since 3rd grade and has been playing for the High School varsity team since Junior year. “My dad bought me a basketball hoop for Christmas and that began my love for the game,” Dom reveals.
He plays point guard and also shooting guard when needed. “Being in the Point Guard on the team is like the quarterback, you have to know all the plays, have the ability to read the court, and run the offense efficiently. You have to be the coach on the court and run efficiently. You have to be the coach on the court and, most importantly, a leader,” Dom claims. So far he has 20 points per game this season.
Being the basketball team captain allows him to display his leadership abilities. “I’m able to create better relationships with the players on the court, also taking some of them under my wing. I tend to lead by example most of the time. but as the season goes on I’m learning the importance of vocal leadership as well,” he adds.
Dom can be described as an outstanding athlete and person both on and off the court. His teammate Gregory Popolizio portrays him as a “responsible and great captain and player.” The team aspires to compete in every game and win state championships.
