The EHHS Boys Soccer team’s fall 2022 season is coming to an end after persevering through two wins, eleven losses, and one tie. As of now, their season ends Tuesday with an away game at Hillhouse. However, even after their challenging season, the team has more motivation than ever.
The team has practiced since the summertime, and continued to practice after school for about two hours each day. During these practices, they keep their morale high to stay motivated. They participate in drills that help them work on skills they could improve upon from their last game. Assistant Coach Conor Kosiatek says, “We have a lot of fun games that keep morale up and alot of technical activities.” The team uses their practice time to build up their perseverance and diligence.
Despite not being able to win as much as they would have liked, the team is still happy with their results as they improved a great amount. As for individual players, the team appreciates personal highlights to boost morale. Dom Rivera scored a left footed goal against Notre Dame which was a stand out moment. Celebrating players increases morale for the team and it changes their outlook on the game. Head Coach Jacob Callahan says, “There has been a huge improvement on the team in terms of their attitude and overall view of the game. All changes have been positive.” They built on every game and even though they did not get the results of winning, they still have improved greatly. This attitude makes the team hopeful that next year they can make it to the state championship. This season, three seniors will be graduating and nine juniors will be rising to the occasion in the fall 2023 season.
