SPOILER WARNING AHEAD!

Season 5 of Cobra Kai came out on September 9, 2022. The show kicks off with Miguel departing the bus station from Mexico, to find his father. During his quest, he learns that his father is just as his mother described him to be “a dangerous man.” Miguel is left heartbroken by this discovery but Johnny Lawrence who was trying to find him comforts him. Miguel and Johnny’s relationship is one of the fans’ favorites and the moment where they hug one another in times of great confusion was one of the best scenes from the new season.

This new season also brought back characters from The Karate Kid movies, such as Chozen and Mike Barnes. These characters brought a lot of surprising twists to the show since in The Karate Kid movies they were enemies of Daniel LaRusso and now in the tv-show, they team up to defeat the common enemy, Terry Silver. It was also nice to see how much the characters developed from teenagers to adults. The plot of Mike Barnes was executed very well and it was good to see how Daniel LaRusso and he become friends throughout the show.

But these are not the only team-ups that occur, Robby, Miguel, and Hawk who in the past 4 seasons have been sworn enemies, make their peace and unravel the many lies of Terry Silver. One of them was that he paid the referee for Tori to win the match against Sam LaRusso. This trio quickly become a fan favorite that gives the viewers a heartwarming break from all the chaos. Sam and Tori were also able to communicate their problems from the previous seasons, leading them to finally be fighting in the same team.

John Kreese, a previous karate instructor, was an interesting addition to the plot that added to the conflict. It was interesting to see how much more in-depth the directors went with him this season. The scene of him sitting with a therapist, having all the people who have impacted or made him who he is, transform and talk to him, was shocking and intriguing. It left the watchers wanting to know more about his past but also sad for him since he shows his true colors of why he is the way he is.

Season 5 of Cobra Kai left the watchers wanting more. Wanting more scenes with Johnny and Miguel showing that son and dad bond that many fans miss. This season also needed more shots with Johnny and Daniel, since they are a comedic duo who never fail to make fans laugh. Additionally how Kenny Payne is going to react in season 6, since his Sensei, paid for him to win too, during his match against Hawk. It also left viewers with a massive cliffhanger of Johnny and Carmen expecting a baby and most surprising, John Kreese escaping prison. Fans are in for a big ride for season 6 which has officially been confirmed to occur in late 2023.
