Stranger Things: Season 3

Genre: Science Fiction, Horror

Isabella’s Rating:★★

Stranger Things Season 3 follows the journey after Joyce finds disruptions of magnets and she starts to believe that the Upside Down has returned. This entire series follows a group of teenagers in High School and their families coming together to defeat all of the challenges that come their way. This season must be watched after season one and two, and this particular season is set in the summer when all of the kids are out of school.
I think that this season lacked the most in terms of action and character development. It was boring most of the time, and forgettable. I had been remembering back on the previous seasons of stranger things, and only remembered season one and four well. Season two and three in my opinion were very forgettable. While watching the show I did have a good time, and many parts were suspenseful during the second half of the season but the first half was very boring. I do think this show is very bingable and watching one episode every now and then will cause you to forget what is going on. They are going to be making a final season of the show sometime in 2025 so make sure to binge the show over the summer!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Genre: Horror, Suspense

Isabella’s Rating:★★★

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows a group of teenagers traveling for the summer by car, when they have to stop at a house on their way. This house happens to be home to killers including leatherface, who wears a mask made of human skin. This movie was remade in 2003 from the classic movie in 1974. The camera quality is obviously not the best because of the time it was made, but this gives the effect of an old creepy movie to watch during the summer. There are 9 films in this franchise, consisting of remakes and spinoffs. I have not watched the others, but hope to get to them in the future!
I think this movie was enjoyable, and brings the perfect setting of a hot summer day when you want a horror movie to watch. The movie is definitely gory and eerie when leatherface is on screen, which adds to the old feel of the movie. The beginning was a bit slow at times but once the main villain came on screen it was very well directed and written. This movie has some gore in it, but is the perfect horror movie to watch in the summer when you’re in the mood for a classic scare.

Fear Street Trilogy

Genre: Horror, Drama

Isabella’s Rating: ★★★★

This trilogy is a Netflix special that follows a teenage girl and her friends after there was a series of murders in their town. They investigate the evil force that has been cursing them for centuries. There are three movies in this series and each one follows the same characters, and new, unique horror villains. You have to watch all of the movies in order to understand the plot, but they are definitely all worth the watch!
This series is definitely very entertaining and you get attached to the characters very quickly. The second movie follows a killer terrorizing a summer camp, which is the perfect setting to watch in the summer. There are so many stakes in these movies, you don’t know who’s going to die, or how. I personally love that aspect of the movies, because I’m always rooting for my favorite character to live and keep fighting. There was no part in this series that was boring, and it just kept getting more entertaining the more you watched it. This series is worth the watch during any season, but especially in the summer when you’re missing halloween! This series is over, but they are making a different movie adaptation from the Fear Street universe, with different characters and plot.
