Rocket League is a video game developed and published by Psyonix; however, it’s now owned and updated by Epic Games. The game is team-based where the players drive, or fly, a car around and play soccer. A game lasts about 5 minutes, and whoever scores the most points wins.

Rocket League is currently my favorite game and I have 1009 hours played on the game. I’ve spent countless hours trying to improve and get better. Some may argue this is unhealthy, maybe even an addiction, but I digress.
Let’s talk about some pros and cons:
- Pro- Rocket League is a unique game because it was one of the first to put a spin on soccer in video games. Controlling flying cars while playing soccer is probably the most unique game concept I’ve seen!
- Pro- Epic Games regularly updates the game; about small updates every month and a big one every few months.
- Con- While the game is kept up to date, I strongly believe that once Epic Games bought Rocket League it has gone down hill. Many features such as trading items were removed, and the big corporation doesn’t really listen to the community’s feedback.
- Pro- The game has a massive skill ceiling, meaning there’s a lot of stuff to learn and you can always get better. It also has a low entry point, meaning people with little experience can start playing and have fun!
Overall, Rocket League is a very fun and unique game; however, the developers can be a bit annoying and it can get repetitive after a while.
Rating: ★★★★☆
You should Save Rocket League!
I give Rocket League a 4/5 stars due to developers not being responsive to the community. The game would get a 5/5 otherwise due to its uniqueness and great skill-based gameplay.
Note: This week I decided to start with a game I’m VERY familiar with, however I want to use this column as a chance to discover new video games in different genres!
