Brilliant Minds is a 2024 TV show following a neurologist and his team as they use untraditional methods to help patients.
Zachary Quinto plays the main character Doctor Oliver Wolf, a neurologist. The other main characters include the head of psychology Dr. Carol Pierce, played by Tamberla Perry. Neurosurgeon Dr. Josh Nichols is played by Dr. Teddy Sears. Alongside them are a group of interns with their quirks. Ashleigh Lathrop plays Dr. Ericka Kinney, an intern who is very invested in her work and plays by the rules. Alex MacNicoll plays squeamish Dr. Van Markus. Spence Moore II plays aspiring football player Dr. Jacob Nash. Extroverted and anxious Dr. Dana Dang is played by Aury Krebs.
The show premiered at the end of September 2024 on NBC. It’s based on the real-life neurologist and writer Dr. Oliver Sacks (1933-2015). While the character and he share the same first name, the show is not about Dr. Sacks. His work and books inspired the creation of Brilliant Minds. Retelling his stories in the format of a show and letting directors add their own creative twists.
This show is a lot different compared to many others. There’s a lot of diversity between characters and everyone we meet has some sort of backstory and personality. We also dive deep into Dr. Wolf’s childhood and his life. Seeing how he’s able to connect with so many of his patients through personal experiences.
The show is an easy show to sit and watch. The episodes are only about 40 minutes long and are filled with a storyline you can follow. The characters explain things in a simple way a lot of the time and don’t use a lot of complicated medical terms like a lot of other shows do. Currently, there are only 5 episodes of the show currently out. Every Monday a new episode will be released.
I find this show interesting. I think it’s an easy watch and seeing a lot of actors we normally don’t see everywhere is refreshing. The acting is amazing however the cinematography takes the cake. Fantastic scenes greet us in the very first episode. It’s a beautiful introduction to this show and the things to come during it. Also being able to relate to a lot of the characters in some way is also a big bonus.
All in all, I give this show 5/5 brains.
