Mrs. Maria Pompano joined the EHHS main office administration team beginning in the 2025 – 2026 school year as the new Assistant Principal. Previously, she was the Instructional Leader for the 6 – 12 science department.
Ms. Pompano joined the science department thirteen years ago before moving to the main office administration team in a move she says has been both eventful and rewarding. She shared, “I was excited by the new challenges and eager to learn [about] the broader administrative systems that make a school run.”
She has been able to learn more and do more interesting things. The change, which occurred at the end of last school year, provided her with a new and better opportunity. She said, “I feel good. I’m learning a lot of new things, which is good,” she said, “I’m meeting a lot of students I wouldn’t have met otherwise.” She adds that, “This shift allows me to apply my knowledge of data and accountability to shape stronger support structures across the building, ensuring every student has the resources and guidance necessary to achieve their potential and thrive at [EHHS].”
Although her responsibilities have changed, she continues to work closely with the science team and attend meetings and assessments. “I didn’t really leave them,” she explained. “I still work with them, which is important to me.”
One part of her new position she enjoys is being outside to greet students in the morning and afternoon. “It’s fun because I see a lot of students coming and going,” she said. For Mrs. Pompano, the new position is “something different,” a chance to broaden her experience while also staying connected to her previous job.
