Your Only Move Is Hustle (YOMI) is an indie computer game developed by Ivy Sly. It’s $5 on Steam. The game is a turn-based fighter that uses frames (a measurement of time). The game determines when you or your opponent can attack, and it freezes, allowing you to choose your attack and try to predict your opponent’s next move. The best way I can describe it is a slow-motion Mortal Kombat.  You win when you take out your opponent. I just got the game last week and love playing it.

  • YOMI uses a style of gameplay that I’ve never seen before, making it a unique game. This makes it more fun to play because it gives you a new experience.
  • In the menu, there are only 3 options to play: Steam multiplayer, legacy multiplayer, and single player. In single player, you play against yourself, there are no robots to play against. In multiplayer, you have to play one versus one. There is no matchmaking.
  • The game has a lot of mod capability, and the creator of the game encourages players to download and use mods. The mods allow you to have new characters, backgrounds, abilities, and more. This creates a great community that makes mods to help make the game more fun.

The game is very interesting and new, it’s a breath of fresh air in the fighting game genre. I love how it’s unique and adds a new twist on fighting games. I don’t like how there is no matchmaking and all games are private matches; it makes it more difficult to find people to play against. Other than that, it’s very fun.

My rating: 7/10
