One of the most dangerous intersections in East Haven: the Kimberly Avenue, Forbes Place, and Frontage Road intersection, puts citizens and travelers in danger daily due to its configuration. The town government is currently working to resolve the issues with the intersection by working with different departments and hiring and working with a traffic engineering firm, specifics are unknown.
Every day citizens travel through the intersection to reach the highway and opposing sides of town. There have been 47 accidents resulting in injury in the past 5 years at the intersection. Town Engineer Jonathan Bodwell commented saying that the intersection is evidently dangerous “due to the high number of accidents”, he also claims there has been many crashes “due to the layout of the roads”. No specifics were given on the issue.
The intersection is very confusing to navigate. The road signs are confusing and it’s very difficult to tell who has the right of way. This leaves the intersection very clogged and makes it hard to drive through
When drivers are exiting the highway at high speeds, their vision to the rest of the intersection is blocked by bushes and trees. They often don’t pay attention because they have the right of way, and this causes many accidents.

When driving through this intersection be cautious of oncoming traffic in all directions and always be aware of your surroundings. Until the intersection is changed, it still remains a danger to drive through.
Police Captain Joseph Murgo said: “That intersection is one of the most concerning in town and remains a top priority for us.” The police department says it is working with local and state officials to handle the intersection and currently the intersection is under evaluation.
Town Engineer Jonathan Bodwell stated, “The town has hired a traffic engineering firm that is presently working with the Police Department and Engineering Department.” The intersection is being handled by multiple departments, however no specifics on plans for the intersection are known.
It is evident that the town is working diligently to fix the issue at hand. However, the intersection will remain an issue until a solution is set into motion.
