At the start of December, Mr. David Ryan joined the EHHS faculty after former business and marketing teacher, Mr. John Devany left, we received a new teacher to take his place, Mr. David Ryan. Mr. Ryan teaches business, marketing, and personal finance classes.
So far he really loves teaching these classes. While Mr. Ryan tends to stay to himself during his time at work, outside of school he is familiar with Mrs. Sara Wolfley, an EHHS administrative assistant.
In college, he majored in political science as an undergraduate student. His goal as a teacher here at EHHS is to give his students useful information that they can use today and in the future to benefit them.
Mr. Ryan likes to adjust his teaching styles to his students needs. He doesn’t always teach by the books, because he has to adjust information for all students, he often makes his lessons part of his own way to give to his students, but he mainly uses a curriculum that was previously inherited by Mr. Devany. One of the challenges Mr. Ryan feels about being a teacher is having to adjust to being a parent figure to some of his students when he has authority over them in the building, as well as being a parent figure to his children at home.
In his free time, he likes to play music with his friends, although he hasn’t in a while since they all live far away. Mr. Ryan also played the drums for about 15 years and did choir as well.
It took Mr. Ryan a long time to see that teaching was for him. Originally he never had the thought about being a teacher until he was always being told that he should be a teacher and ignored that until he got married to a teacher and realized it wasn’t such a bad idea. His only regret about being a teacher, is that he should’ve started teaching earlier.
