If you watched Smile 1, you would find that Smile 2, released in theaters in October 2024, picks up right where the original Smile ended. This thriller film continues attempting to pass the Smile Entity on to a criminal so the newly cursed Joel can move on with his life, but that would be too easy. Joel’s plan backfires, and we are introduced to the film’s main character, pop sensation Skye Riley, played by Naomi Scott. Here, we learn of Skye’s dark past, her struggle to recover from past traumatic events, and how the Smile Entity manipulates her weaknesses and fears. Hallucinations, mental health, and addiction struggles are a bad mix for Skye, which almost guarantees we will see more of the Smile franchise.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie. It was more of a psychological thriller instead of a jump-scare horror movie. I liked the storyline that portrayed the pressures of famous and influential people, feeling that not everyone has your best interests at the forefront. I think celebrities, in general, experience these challenges and feel like they always have to be perfect because they are in the public eye. The entity uses that to its advantage
I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐ ☆
