The UnHoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Genre: Romance
One POV, stand alone, Adult
Isabella’s Rating:★★★★★
The UnHoneymooners follows Olive, who gets a free Hawaiian honeymoon gifted to her from her sister after a disastrous wedding. Her sister’s fiance has a brother, Ethan, that is also going on the honeymoon, but Olive and Ethan hate each other. When they get to this honeymoon they have to pretend to be married so they don’t seem suspicious.
The UnHoneymooners is a standalone, but there is a second audio exclusive novella that follows her sister’s journey which takes place after the events of The UnHoneymooners.
The UnHoneymooners is one of my favorite books I have ever read. The summer feels in this book is my favorite part, you can feel the warm sunny day that the characters are living in. The characters also do a lot of different activities in this book that you would never do unless you were on vacation which makes you feel like you’re on vacation with the characters. You explore Hawaii with Olive and Ethan, while also watching the characters grow and heal from things from their past.
One of the only things that I didn’t like about the book is when they come back from the trip. There was a small plot twist at the end of the book which triggered a third act breakup of the 2 characters that I did not enjoy. It involved the miscommunication trope, which is one of my least favorites, but in the end the book ended off amazing. This book is one that I could reread over and over and not get bored of it; it’s such a feel-good book that is quick and easy.
