Tales of The Jedi is the newest installment of the Star Wars franchise which debuted on October 26th of this year, all of the six short episodes were released onto Disney+. Many of the previous voice actors from other shows, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels had returned to voice these iconic characters, such as Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Corey Burton (Count Dooku), Dee Bradley Baker (The Clones), Terrence Carson (Mace Windu), and Phil LaMarr (Bail Organa). Liam Neeson who played the live action version of Qui-Gon Jinn returned to voice the character along with Ian McDiarmid who played Sheev Palpatine/Darth Sidious in the prequels returned to voice the character.

Not many people have watched this new show, but science teacher at EHHS Mr. Jacob Callahan has watched the show. Mr. Callahan had loved the show and thinks that it had given more of a backstory to the characters that he likes. The Clone Wars is Mr. Callahan’s favorite Star Wars animated show. With the animation being the same as Tales of the Jedi, he is happy with how the show is animated.

There have been two different arcs present in this season, the episode follows Ahsoka who is a baby at this time and her life before she was taken by the Jedi order, the viewers are introduced to Ahsoka’s mother and father who were never shown in the universe before. Episodes 5-6 are also a part of Ahsoka’s arc, Ahsoka is being trained by her master; Anakin Skywalker, to be able to be prepared for anything while on the battlefield. Mr. Callahan’s favorite episode is “Practice Makes Perfect” and it’s his favorite because, “…it shows that perseverance will eventually lead to success. It also showed that Anakin saved Ahsoka’s life during Order 66 because she used the same moves he was making her perfect in her escape from the cruiser.” Then in the last episode, Ahsoka was hiding from The Empire. In the episode there was an Inquisitor, who are force users that hunt Jedi for The Empire. The Inquisitor was going after Ahsoka, and there was a quick fight with Ahsoka dominating and defeating him.

Then, episodes 2-4 follow Dooku which shows his fall to the darkside. This is the arc Mr. Callahan had preferred. In the first episode of his arc, Dooku is with Qui-Gon Jinn and they are there to be able to help people on a specific planet. In the second episode, Dooku is with Mace Windu, and during this episode Dooku is shown to be more aggressive with his fighting. Then in the concluding episode of Dooku’s arc, we see the consequences of Qui-Gon’s death and how it affected Dooku. That moment was what drove Dooku to become a sith, and to join with Darth Sidious, who is a sith. Since these episodes had given insight to why Dooku had fallen to the dark side. Mr. Callahan shares his opinion, “I actually feel bad for him now and understand why he did what he did.” A character that was in this arc is Yaddle, which is Mr. Callahan’s favorite character from this show. She had the same reservations about the Jedi and the council that Dooku had, but she refused to go down the path to the dark side and instead resigned from her seat on the council in protest. His favorite moment had also been from this arc, the moment was when Yaddle and Dooku were dueling, and Dooku had dropped a door on her. During this moment Yaddle had tapped into the light side to be able to show her strength. Mr. Callahan said,“I also liked how scared Palpatine looked as she was holding the door. Sure, she ended up losing that duel seconds later, but it was such a powerful moment that I won’t forget.”

Mr. Callahan was disappointed with the fact that there were short episodes, “I would just be getting into the story and the end credits would appear.” He also wished that there were more episodes and ran a little longer too.

Many hope for there to be a season two, highlighting other Jedi. Although not many people watched the show at EHHS the show has a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 94% audience score. The critics on Rotten Tomatoes that reviewed the show gave the show high reviews. One critic, Alex Maidywho is a part of JoBlo’s Movie Network, had said “Fans of Star Wars animation will enjoy this series and all fans of the saga will find intriguing and shocking moments here that add to George Lucas’ original creation.” Maidy had given the show a score of 8/10 when he reviewed the show. Then another critic who is a top critic from Empire Magazine, Amon Warmann, said “A fun and worthwhile trip to the galaxy far, far away. The Dooku stories will be especially satisfying for Clone Wars fans, and Ahsoka remains a delight.” Warmann gave the show a 4/5 when they reviewed the show and I give the show a full 5/5.
