EHHS senior Davione Davis started a small business to share his love for making food with the world. Take the time to visit and enjoy the amazing creations of “diningwithdavi.”
Diningwithdavi started on August 1, 2024 when Davione began posting videos of his meals to share his creations with others. People started ordering food from his videos to taste his work. He soon realized that he had found his calling. He cooks a variety of styles of foods from wings to some of the most delicious desserts.
What many don’t know is that Davione found his motivation through culinary classes at EHHS. When he first met Mr. John Profetto, he showed Davione how to achieve what was “unachievable.” Soon after Mrs. Heather Profetto came into the picture, pushing Davione to his goal with constructive criticism and some strong guidance. The Profettos have been a large part of his progress. But of course, like any other dream, there were some struggles. “Sometimes it was hard… I just like sharing my cooking,” Davione shared. Even though there were hard times, Davione kept his eye on his end goal and kept fighting, continuing to grow and reach his dream.
As a result, Davione Davis will be attending Johnson and Wales to continue learning and spreading his love around the world. Unfortunately, because the school is in a different state, Davione has to decide whether to balance all the work or say goodbye to selling his food to his biggest supporters. Even though Davis has found sharing his meals to be nerve-wracking, especially without knowing how others will react, “I get very nervous, like you would tell me that I can cook all the time… When I cook so much, the way I season my food, it doesn’t taste the same.” However, his passion isn’t driven by a specific goal or desire; rather, it’s a heartfelt desire to share his passion for cooking with the world. “I just want to share my creations and recipes with people,” he says. The happiness that comes from others enjoying his food is the true reward for him.
Balancing his passion for cooking with the demands of two part-time jobs and academic responsibilities is no easy feat. Davione acknowledges the challenges he faces, often finding himself stretched too thin. Yet, it is this very passion that keeps him motivated to continue sharing his culinary creations. Consistency plays a big role in his approach to social media. He emphasizes the importance of posting videos to truly share his love for food. While he plans to continue videos, the demands of college may alter his consistency of posting in the future.
Cooking has become a highly important part of Davione’s life. His cooking style is diverse, but he holds a special love for dishes like chicken birria tacos and baked mac and cheese. However, he acknowledges that creating is more time consuming with preparation taking up to 12 hours.
Diningwithdavi is more than just a cooking page; it’s a testament to the power of passion, creativity, and community. Through his culinary journey, Davis continues to inspire others to explore their cooking dreams, proving that the joy of sharing food can create connections that transcend the kitchen. Whether it’s through a simple recipe or a detailed dish, Davis’s mission remains clear: to spread happiness through the art of cooking.
